The Talk welcomed Jimmy Smits, a.k.a Bail Organa, where the Star Wars alum revealed he will have a small part in December's Rogue One.
Bail Organa is Princess Leia's adoptive father and featured in the Star Wars prequels, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, The character also met his demise in A New Hope when the Death Star blew up his planet, Alderaan. For those confused about what Rogue One is, I can tell you what it is not:
It's not part of the Skywalker tales (i.e. Episodes I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII). This is not Episode VIII. Rogue One takes place in the same universe that the Skywalkers, Solo's and Kenobi's exist in but they are not particularly about them, although Darth Vader will make an appearance- Rogue One is not a continuation of the already established Star Wars films.
So I guess the prequels are canon afterall.
