Could we be getting a live-action Star Wars show soon? According to Entertainment Weekly, the idea of a live-action show has been in the works for some time. Years ago, producer, Rick McCallum commissioned a show but was put on the shelf due to expenses.
However, ABC has inherited the same obstacle of finances in order to produce such a spectacle. In my humble opinion, there are so many stories to tell within the Star Wars universe and many of them would work better as series rather than films but I agree that the visual effects alone would be too costly but maybe there is a way to distribute the series while also having great visual effects. Perhaps Netflix could offer a better deal. With the shows distributed all at once to promote binge watching, filmmakers essentially have more time for pre/post production services (i.e. visual effects). Not to mention a Star Wars show would save Netflix from the troubles they've been having lately.
Hmm. Just a thought.
