SUPERGIRL/FLASH: Musical Crossover? Wtf?

After weeks of rumors, it's finally confirmed that The Flash and Supergirl will have a musical crossover. Smh.

This is usually a move that shows do out of desperation in their 5th (and above) seasons as their writers run out of ideas but it looks like the CW is either desperate or just taking a big risk for musical fans.

Why would this even be considered? The Flash's Grant Gustin and Supergirl's Melissa Benoist are Glee alumni. Jesse L. Martin (The Flash) was an original cast member for Rent, Carlos Valdes (The Flash) has albums and Jeremy Jordan (Supergirl) starred in NBC's Smash and is starring in Broadway's Newsies. Now word who exactly will be singing or dancing in the episode but it's assumed both stars will be taking center stage for it.

I personally, am not looking forward to this. It seems like a big mistake in my opinion and although comic books have that creative edge to pull off such odd things, I think that doing it on screen this early is not a good move but hey, it might actually be good, who knows?

FREEDOM FIGHTERS: CW Seed Will Debut Series With Gay Lead

Although it's not on the main network and it's not in live- action, this is still a big step for humanity. CW Seed, the network's digital channel will debut Freedom Fighters: The Ray based the characters from DC and will feature a gay lead. This is the first superhero TV/Film series that will feature a gay superhero to lead a series. This is awesome!

I really want this to do well because then live-action films will do the same in due time. Most comic book fans aren't opposed to gay/lesbian characters nor segregate from the LGBTQ community but when comics become films or TV series, our beloved stories and characters are judged by a whole new group of viewers and that can discriminate not only fans of the LGBTQ community but comic book fans as well. I think the CW is doing the smart thing by introducing the idea of  a gay superhero lead as an animated series first. Hopefully, if it does well, they'll incorporate it to their live-action series.

SUPERGIRL: Sharon Leal Cast As Miss Martian

DC is trying their best to salvage Supergirl by featuring some cool characters! In one of my articles, I mentioned a few things that the CW would have to do to save the daughter of Krypton and it looks like they knew what they had to do too. Today it was released that Sharon Leal has been cast as Miss Martian! This marks the first time the character be adapted to live-action, having only appeared in comics and animation.

AQUAMAN: Black Manta Confirmed as Villain

In Jason Momoa's stand alone superhero film, Aquaman, the villain has been confirmed to be Black Manta.

GOTHAM: Here's Your New Poison Ivy!

Oh man! This season is going to drive me nuts!

For those who've been watching the show, you're more familiar with Clare Foley but the character will be undergoing a transformation-

“Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne.”

 So let's give  a warm welcome to Maggie Geha who has taken on the role that brings one of our favorite Batman girls to life. Poison Ivy, everyone. Poison Ivy!

GOTHAM: Harley Quinn and Killer Croc! They're in! But not this season...

Executive Producer, John Stevens announced that Batman characters Harley Quinn and a proto Killer Croc will be be in the show due to Hugo Strange's experiments in Indian Hill last season, their appearances, however, won't make it in this season due to Suicide Squad premiering, which makes me wonder why announce it during this years TCA Press Tour if it won't be relevant this coming season?

Either way, it's all good to know that some of our favorite villains will be appearing sometime in the near future, so long as the show doesn't decline in ratings. If you want to see them on TV then watch Gotham on FOX.

CHARLIZE THERON: Happy Birthday!

Am I the only one who thought she would have made a great Selena Kyle (Catwoman)?

ROTTEN TOMATOES: Losing its cred? Probably.

Since Suicide Squad premiered, the reviews have swayed away from the 'Fresh' score to a 'Rotten' one. Fans even petitioned to get the site shut down due to favoritism. Their claim:

“We need this site to be shut down because It’s [ sic ] Critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust Bad Reviews,”

If you're like me, you stay away from reviews and wait to make your own. Critics and fans alike hated Batman V. Superman, according the site, however, if you read users reviews from IMDb, reviews leaned in the films favor. Is there something wrong going on at Rotten Tomatoes or does Rotten Tomatoes have users that favor a certain type of movie?

Regardless of what is going on, this could be the beginning of the end for the site, seeing that it's bringing to light some questions that can ruin its cred. Take this article for example:

The author explains in the first part about what the problem is that's been going on and the second part (both parts are short and the second begins after the video post) goes on to explain their experience while rating/reviewing movies, Tarzan (for example) versus Suicide Squad. Both got the same score of 2.5 (by the user) but Tarzan got the 'Fresh' seal of approval while Suicide Squad received the dreaded 'Rotten'. (Pictured Above).

Something smells rancid to me.

Again, I love social media for this. I don't think Aqualad can have his own film but if they made a Young Justice show or something, James Anderson would be great!

I know, I know- Batman Forever was the start of the fall of Batman before Nolan darkened it and made it as badass as the films have become (and should have been)- you have to admit, Nicole Kidman as Dr. Chase Meridian made that eyebrow lift a bit. Let's appreciate her today.

SUPERGIRL: Can CW Save Supergirl? Here's What Needs To Be Done.

By now, you've probably figured out that Supergirl was canceled by CBS and picked up by CW due to a decline in ratings. Despite the cross-over episode with CW's The Flash, the show wasn't able to hold on as its own overall. This could have been because CBS is home to more mature audiences where Supergirl, for the most part, appeals to a younger demographic. It was a risk for CBS to take for that reason alone but definitely worth it if it brought in more viewers from a wider spectrum of ages, however, it didn't.

CW is known for its teenage drama's and has remained successful for it since their WB days when Smallville used to be on. What does this mean for Supergirl? Since the show is more appealing to younger audiences, the CW is one of the perfect places to move it to. Seeing that CBS co-owns the network, it was no surprise that it moved there rather than ABC Family or what is now known as Freeform.

The network is also home to other superhero drama's like Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow and seeing that Supergirl is a DC character, CW is its best chance. But is the move enough to increase ratings and change already made opinions of the show since its first season? Here's what needs to be done:

1.) Better Story and Character Development: The first season lost its momentum and lagged in too many areas when it shouldn't have that eventually made the season seem long and dragged out. The characters were dull, making not only its hero boring but also their villains. If the CW plans on adding another successful super-hero show to their belt, this is something their writers are going to have to flesh out.

2.) Introduce New (familiar) Characters: Expand the series a bit by bringing in new characters from the comics and/or animated series. Powergirl would be an excellent guest star, Braniac would be an awesome villain and Ms. Martian would blow fans minds. Since the characters that CBS introduced didn't impress anyone, it's time to bring in the characters that do. As far as we know, at this point, Superman and Lena Luthor have been added to the recurring characters list and although Superman is a fan favorite, is he the best character to bring in right now seeing that this a Supergirl show and with Batman V. Superman and Justice League being so popular, is it a Superman overload? And how many people even knew Lex had a sister? Could this be a sign that CW isn't bringing the right characters in? Hopefully Tyler Hoechlin (Superman) and Katie McGrath (Lena Luthor) can give these characters the kind of appeal the show needs.

3.) Better Action & Special Effects: The first season was almost embarrassing to watch due to the cheesy action scenes and poor visual effects. So not only did the shows story and characters were bland, the action was lame. It's no wonder it had poor ratings. With shows like Arrow and The Flash under CW's responsibility, Supergirl has a great chance at upping that aspect in their favor so long as its star, Melissa Benoist, can pull it off like her male ally's.


Here's hoping that Supergirl can soar in with a better show to impress audiences or else it may just be cancelled for good.

SPOTLIGHT: Margot Robbie

With Suicide Squad out there for the public to love or hate, there is no question that Margot Robbie, 26, is the girl of the hour, which is why I'm featuring her as my first spotlight.

Robbie was born in Australia in 1990 and started her career appearing in Aussie-Indy films in the early 2000's. She then got her break on the Australian soap opera, Neighbors. When she moved to the United States she starred in the brief, Pan Am then went on to appear in The Wolf of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. Her performance earned her recognition. She has since starred is numerous films and has left her immortal fingerprint as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad: Worth A Trip to the Theater? Or Worth A Red Box?

A puzzlingly confused undertaking that never becomes as cool as it thinks it is, Suicide Squad assembles an all-star team of supervillains and then doesn’t know what to do with them. - The Hollywood Reporter

As with Batman V. Superman, critics and fans were highly disappointed with the result of Suicide Squad, however, I am one of the few who actually enjoyed BVS. Sure, it was messy and long and had flaws (like any movie) I still connected to it and still enjoyed it. Although I have yet to see Suicide Squad, I will in a few hours, I believe that people should still go out to see a movie to judge it. Critics are tired of super heroes and fans have gotten super hero films for so long now, they (we) feel entitled to Oscar worthy performances, visual effects, music and story.

If you were expecting a review, sorry. I won't give my opinion in the attempt to brainwash you into thinking what I believe is right. Form your own opinion. It's ok not to genuinely like the film but remember, it's also ok to like it if you do.

SUPERGIRL: The New Superman Revealed

Fans and even myself, are not too pleased with this angle of Tyler Hoechlin who is the most recent actor to dawn the Kryptonian shield. However other, more recent photographs flatter him more. Take a look:

He still looks scrawny to me with the exceptions of this legs. But that's just me.
