Comic Con: Fox Web Series Celebrates 2nd Season!

The following has been taken from Fox Web Series' Official Blog:

San Diego Comic Con celebrated the second season of Fox over the weekend. Although it wasn't so much of an announcement, it was the first time anyone from the show acknowledged rumors and theories regarding the future of everyone's favorite bad girl. Monroe Hayden, show-runner, producer and actress, talked during a panel about what to expect and how it was to create the series form scratch.

Here's what the talk included:

Season One
- It takes 4 hours to edit 2 minutes (sometimes even more).
- The show was inspired by fairytales, Disney movies, (and yes)American Horror StoryMarvel's Daredevil and Game Of Thrones
- The "one shot" fight scene was actually 5 shots put together and took over 50 man hours. It was inspired by Marvel's Daredevil.
Michael Lozano was not replaced by Hunter Tabiendo. His schedule changed unexpectedly and was not available to shoot but was committed to do what he could to fulfill his contract and the show, so he provided Xander's voice. Hunter, who is also Monroe Hayden's cousin, saved the show by standing in. Due to scheduling, Xander will not be returning as a regular but he may return as a guest.
- Brandon Teague, executive producer, passed away in December but years before, he was the one who Fox her real name: Tristan Turner. She was named after the hero from Tristan & Isolde and artist, Michael Turner.

Season Two
- Entire season will be released at once so viewers can binge watch.
- Daisy will join the cast along with Priscilla, Bethany and even Rebecca.
- With Xander no longer being in the show, a new villain will step in and he has a past with Fox's parents.
Allyson Moyer will return as Mina Abrams and that her character will be a bad ass.
- Daisy and Fox's relationship will not be as it was written in the books but it will be in the spirit of it.
- The season will include horror elements as it did last season and follow in the same footsteps with the psychological theme.

COMIC CON: Game of Thrones Highlights

HBO's Game of Thrones following two seasons will the series last and not only that, it will be delayed due to wintry conditions.

The following has been taken from Deadline.com

The panel kicked off with a comedy video featuring McElhenney and fellow It’s Always Sunny cast member Charlie Day riffing on the Thrones‘ signature warning “Winter is coming” and complaining about the fact that winter never seems to arrive. After that, the panel began — and if you’ve read anything about the show or interviews with its cast or crew in the past few months, you already know everything that was discussed. The biggest highlight, at least for me, was Nairn becoming visibly moved when he talked about the fan reaction to his character and the emotional outpouring following Hodor’s death.
Among the other highlights:
Early on in the panel discussion, Benioff and Weiss — by way of apologizing for inarticulate answers to fan questions — claimed that Turner forced everyone to take a shot of vodka just before they went onstage. If that was true, it would explain why everyone on the panel appeared, let’s say, “tired.” Maybe it was vodka, or maybe they all treated their glaucoma, but the discussion was absolutely loose and lackadaisical.
All the cast members gave wildly different answers as to who they want to see sitting on the Iron Throne, but the best response came from Rheon, who said he would prefer that it be melted down and the monarchy replaced with a democracy.

11 Web Series You Should Be Watching

Today, entertainment is at its best but not at the movies and not on television, either. Instead, viewers are going crazy over shows streamed on the internet; they’re called web series and you’d be surprised what a  web series really is. A web series is a show that requires the internet to watch unlike satellite and cable, you need wifi to watch these shows. Some require monthly subscriptions and others are entirely free.

But what makes this list different, you ask? Well, for one- it may surprise you to learn what qualifies as a web show and two- you may have not even heard of these titles and who knows, you might find your next obsession on this list. The list varies from super popular to not-so-popular but all of them are worthy of this read through because how else would these pieces of entertainment be noticed, if you don’t, at the very least, scan through them?

But on IMDb they’re called ‘TV- Series’. My friend, the term web series is still on the rise and there isn’t a category for them yet on that particular site. See? You learned something and haven’t even gotten to the list yet! Here are eleven shows everyone is talking about and you should be watching.
(These shows have been verified by IMDb).

11. Orange is the New Black

Let’s start with the obvious, shall we? Orange is the New Black has been setting records everywhere but it’s also quite possibly the first web show that has given streaming a good name. Taking place in a fictional women’s prison, Piper Chapman finds a way to survive both physically and emotionally during her sentence. The show also focuses on issues that are currently causing controversy regarding inmate treatment. Starring: Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Uzo Aduba, Laverne Cox and Taryn Manning

Watch by joining Netflix. (You can use the free trial)

10. Wendy

This one is not so popular but you may recognize some faces, if you’re in your teens. Wendy is an imaginative modern day, retelling of Peter Pan but from Wendy’s perspective. This one is short and sweet as opposed to the hour long drama. We’re talking five- minute sweet. The mystery is captivating, the music is compelling and the story is very driven. You’ll find yourself connecting the original characters and plots only to find yourself questioning what is actually happening. It is a bit on the teen side but it’s only five minutes, give it shot. Starring: Meghan Martin, Tyler Blackburn, David Cane and Rachel DiPillo.

9. 11.22.63

11.22.63 is an edge of your seat thriller that involves time travel. If you could to change history, would you? Jake Epping travels back in time to stop the assassination of JFK but runs into some problems along the way because obviously, every time traveler will- duh! The show has raised some eyebrows and rehashes the conspiracy theories surrounding the death of the former president but still worth your time starring James Franco and written by Stephen King and produced by JJ Abrams. How could you go wrong? Starring: James Franco, Sarah Gadon, Chris Cooper, George MacKay and Josh Duhamel

8. Nightwing: The Series

This one has been around for a while but still worth the watch- even though it wasn’t renewed but the makers continue to make short super hero films. Dick Grayson, the former Robin of Gotham City, dawns the mask of Nightwing for the first time without Batman. For the superhero fan, this series may just wet your whistle combining the grittiness of The Dark Knight with the storytelling in the style of Arrow. Join the superhero club and start watching some action! Starring: Danny Shepherd, Bob Lee Dysinger and Stephen Manley.

7. Mortal Kombat: Legacy

This too has been around for a while but still done very well and is still currently airing. Most of us are familiar with Mortal Kombat because the video games have been around for such a long time but this is way better than the movie we all got back in the 90’s. It sets as a prequel to the games and explores the backgrounds of multiple characters. Even if you’re not a fan of MK, the show stars some recognizable faces and features some pretty impressive action scenes. Starring:  Edward Mayo, Casper Van Dien, Ian Anthony Dale and Samantha Jo.

6. Beautiful Fools

Beautiful Fools is one of those that takes a bit of an open mind to watch as its story is more on the raw side and there isn’t much action, in fact there is none. Instead, BFS focuses on a British screw up who is drowning in his problems of alcoholism while still trying to get his life back on track after his sudden break up. Unlike the fast paced shows listed previously, this one slows it down a notch but still worth a try. Starring: Dominic Best, Heather Higginbotham and Zach Baz.

5. Fox

This one is more for teens and young adults but the plot is still alluring. It’s about dreams and how they reflect your reality; what if dreams are real? Fox, the infamous dream girl has a tendency to keep secrets and those secrets involve the truth of dreams. The show will make you think and give you whiplash by the end of the season, making you actually question what a dream actually is. The production value grows as the season proceeds, so you can totally see why it’s making a name for itself- plus, despite its fantasy aspect it still brings it home while bringing up such a controversial issue of same-sex acceptance and there’s a pretty impressive one shot action scene too because who doesn’t want to watch a girl kick ass? Starring: Monroe Hayden, Allyson Moyer, Michael Lozano and Hunter Tabiendo.

4. Vag Magazine

Unlike the previous shows, this one is funny! It goes behind the scenes of a feminist magazine and stars SNL star, Kate McKinnon. So, yeah it’s pretty funny. Consider it Brides Maids meets The Devil Wears Prada without Meryl. Only one season was made but still worth watching as each episode is only 5 minutes and there are only 6 episodes total. So get your fem on and watch some vag… magazine. Get your head out of the gutter. Starring: Sarah Claspell, Nicole Drespel, Jocelyn Guest and Kate McKinnon

Watch for free!

3. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn

This one kicks it up a notch with the action and adventure. Although this one premiered years ago, according to IMDb ratings, it beats the current Nightfall out of the park. Halo fans may enjoy this more so than any other live action series that have since premiered, as it focuses on teenagers who are undergoing training to protect the Covenant. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Maybe you should give it a try then? Xbox fans can watch a space adventure they’re familiar with and those who have never played the games can enjoy it too as it features impressive special effects and interesting characters. Since premiering, the episodes have been collected together to create a movie so no episode jumping. Starring: Anna Popplewell, Thom Green, Daniel Cudmore and Enisha Brewster

Rent or buy on DVD and Blu-ray

2. Powers

Since we’re in the video game section, let’s bring up Powers which is Playstation’s original series that focuses on an investigator who was once a superhero but had his powers taken away from him. Set in a fictional world where humans and super humans exist, the show has raised a few eyebrows and has even been green lit for a second season. The problem with this series is you have to have a Playstation account to watch it. It’s exclusive for PS players. Starring: Sharlto Copley, Susan Heyward, Noah Taylor and Eddie Izzard

  1. Mozart in the Jungle

Quite possibly the show that has been turning heads since Orange is the New Black, Amazon released one of many shows and this one is about what happens backstage of a symphony. You’d think it would be boring but it actually isn’t. Trust me. Its Golden Globe should prove it is reputable. You have to have an Amazon Prime account to watch for free or use the free trial to catch up and perhaps check out other shows the company has produced. Starring: Gael Garcia Bernal, Lola Kirke, Saffron Burrows and Bernadette Peters.

6 Random Actors Who Are Actually Pretty Smart

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that actor’s have backgrounds beyond the screen. Although some may play dumb on film every now and then, some actually aren’t. Here are 6 random actors, and by random I mean: just people I've looked up recently after watching their shows, who are more than pretty faces.

 James Franco

The Pineapple Express actor played a not- so smart, drug dealer in the buddy film that may have just gave him immortality but did you know that in the middle of his career he actually went back to school? He attended UCLA and took a few extension courses in literature and creative writing, loved it so much that he decided to keep going and even persuaded his advisors to give him the maximum course load (62 units) while still making movies! In two year, he earned his degree in English with a 3.5 GPA- but wait, he didn’t stop there! The man wrote a novel for his thesis. Would you believe me if I said he still stop there? No? Well, jokes on you because he kept going! After UCLA he enrolled in six other university’s: NYU, Columbia, Brooklyn College, Warren Wilson, Rhode Island School for Design and Yale. Feeling bad about yourself? Yeah. Thought so. He ended up earning his Ph. D in English.

David Duchovny

Before becoming an actor, The X- Files star attended Princeton where he earned his Bachelor’s in Literature then went on to attend Yale where he earned his Masters in English. He then attempted to earn his Ph. D but has yet to complete his requirements. He has, however wrote two novels, Holy Cow: A Modern- Day Dairy Tale and Bucky F*cking Dent. Fox Mulder has got some brains, speaking of foxes…

Monroe Hayden

Although the Fox star is just starting out, you’d be impressed with the work she put in for the show included in her IMDb resume, so we did some research. Before becoming a filmmaker, the actress earned her degree in Law and Society with minors in Anthropology, History and Art. She now owns her own production company, SkySoft Entertainment.

Mayim Bialik

She not only plays a super smart scientist on The Big Bang Theory, she actually is one. The actress, earned her degree in Neuroscience and minored in Hebrew and Jewish Studies before earning her Ph. D in Neuroscience.

Bradley Cooper

The former “Sexiest Man Alive” winner earned his degree in English from Georgetown before earning his MFA in acting from Actor’s Studio Drama School at The New School. He also studied abroad in France. No wonder he became the sexiest man alive.

Anna Popplewell

You may recognize her for playing Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia when she was 15 but she’s not so little anymore. She went on to attend Oxford University to study English. To keep herself busy, she joined Oxford University Dramatic Society where she played in various theater productions including Lady Macbeth.

Reminder We All Forget About Henry VIII

Henry VIII was actually described to be quite attractive in his youth. Because he was originally the “spare heir” he had a bit more freedom than his elder brother Arthur, Prince of Wales. Henry enjoyed jousting and fencing, both of which are very physical. He was taller than Arthur and his father. His shoulders were broad and his physique was athletic. Because he was an athlete, he naturally had a big appetite which was kept under control through his daily exercises. When he unexpectedly became heir to the throne due to the untimely death of Arthur, he was sheltered from harsh physical activities that could have doomed consequences. When he became king he practiced jousting in public tournaments. This went on for a while, Catherine, his wife had Mary already. But then he was in a jousting accident where his physicians actually thought he was dead. I think he was really unconscious but due to the armor and leather, they couldn’t tell if Henry was alive. He woke up with an injured leg that ended up causing him much pain throughout the rest of his life due to it never fully able to heal. Henry could not joust again. Since he naturally had a big appetite, he was used to eating a lot. It was also recorded that Henry started to binge eat due to stress; he was obsessed with going to war with France, looking for any opportunity to invade. Big appetite + Binge eating = Obesity. His weight was a huge factor to his unhealthy state.

Main Thing to Know While Watching 'Troy'

Helen of Troy was not a real person recorded in history. She is a Greek mythological character. Although Troy has been proven to have been a real place in what is now Turkey, the woman, Helen: who’s face was described to have “launched a thousand ships” has not been proven to have existed. The only information we have of her is the Judgment of Paris when Aphrodite promises to give Paris the most beautiful mortal woman in the world if he chose her as the most fairest goddess and gave her the Golden Apple over Hera and Athena.
He was foolish and did so but the consequences had cost him the his country and the lives of his father and elder brother, Hector. This was due to Helen being married to the King of Sparta when she was given to Paris. The King of Sparta, Menelaus, was the brother of King Agamemnon who had the power to command the Greek armed forces against Troy. Athens is a part of Greece. Athena is the goddess that the city is named after and worships. And Hera was the protector of married women. Both Athena and Hera fought with the Greeks. Athena is the goddess of strategic war and Hera is the source to the term, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Troy didn’t stand a chance.

Common Questions Newbie Star Wars Fans Have

Is Finn a Jedi or use the Force since he can fight with a lightsaber?

Finn lost that fight. Remember that. In my opinion, the idea that only a Jedi or Sith can use a lightsaber is a very juvenile thought. That’s like saying, “Only a sniper can use a gun,” when obviously anyone can pull the trigger but without proper training, you’ll only get so far. Anyone can punch another person but just because you can doesn’t mean you can take on a trained boxer. I think it’s the same with a lightsaber. Anyone can pick it up, turn it on and swing it around but if you’re not trained to use it, you’re probably screwed- as was the case with Finn. And don’t forget that he was once a Trooper and we clearly saw them use a Z6 Riot Baton, which is obviously not a lightsaber but has a similar use of skill.

The lightsaber does not make a Jedi or a Sith what they are, it’s their use of the Force. A New Hope explains that when Luke is given his father’s lightsaber. Obi- Wan explains that it is simply a choice of weapon for a Jedi Knight, “An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.” He then goes on to talk about the Force and its use. Later on, while Luke is training on the Millennium Falcon, Obi- Wan instructs him to feel the Force around him and be less reliant on what he sees and what he’s using.
A Trooper does not have those powers therefore making their skills very unuseful against anyone who does, regardless of their weapon of choice. Han Solo used the lightsaber to open a Tan-Tan to keep Luke warm. Yeah, he didn’t use it in battle but the dude turned it on and slashed open an animal. Both he and Finn are evidence that in the end, a lightsaber is just a weapon and like guns, plasma’s and Z6’s, but  training in the Force will help you in a lightsaber duel against a member of the Sith and just because you’re able to survive a few moments does not make you a Jedi.

How was Rey able to use it then if she hasn’t been trained and isn’t a Jedi?

This is the whole plot for the new franchise. Rey obviously has that power and potential to become a great Jedi Knight or a powerful Sith Lord, which ever she may choose. If you didn’t’ get that from watching the film- watch it again! Because that was the focus! We don’t know quite yet how she was able to “pick up on it” so fast. We all have theories based on images and other information from novels and graphic novels released on Force Friday that were linked to the new franchise. From what I saw in the film and what I’ve read in those novels: when Rey was taken away to Jakku, she was dressed in something that looked very close to Padawan clothing which would suggest, to me, that she was enrolled in the academy at the time of her abandonment. Also, the timeline would work with that theory. This would explain why throughout the film, she doesn’t just pick up on using the Force but actually appears to remember some things. She has to take a moment to remember what it is and how to use it- yet it doesn’t work right away! Sometimes it takes a few times for it to work. During her lightsaber battle, she was actually trying to get away from Kylo Ren. You kept seeing her backing away and trying to flee. The girl was scared and knew she couldn’t beat this dude without luck. It isn’t until she is forced to fight back or fall off the cliff when she remembers the Force. It’s the Force that helps her get away. She does not win the battle. The battle has just begun. She also knows how to fight from being left alone on Jakku. She wasn’t some farm girl who all of sudden got lucky. She has some skills and from the looks of it, has a past that obviously connects to the use of the Force but we have to wait and see what that is and why it’s happening but if my theory is correct, then obviously Rey has yet to finish her training and that’s what we will be watching in the next few movies.

If that’s true, how did she forget?

I don’t know. I didn’t make the movie. That’s just a theory but I do have a theory for why and how she would forget. When Rey has her vision and sees Luke touch R2D2, a lot of people were wondering why. There’s a possibility that in that moment, he decided to flee and shut R2D2 down using the Force as a way to hide his [Luke] location. Obviously he wanted to get away. Kylo Ren was able to use the Force to get in the minds of other people. The only person he was having trouble with, who was fighting him back, was Rey. Which is why you saw them both cry, it was a very painful and exhausting experience. From reading past novels and stuff, the Jedi and Sith were able to do that and much more. Since obviously Kylo is still in training and Rey could be too, they have yet to master everything. But think about it, if it’s possible to not only enter the mind of another human being but also wield it to your beckon call, “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for,” it’s possible to wipe someone’s memory or suppress it for a time. That was also done in some of the books in the past. If Luke did that to Rey, that would explain why she can’t remember.

Is Han Solo really dead?

Yes bitch,

Hello World!

First things first, my name is not Orlando but my last name is Doom. Just kidding. It's not. I actually don't have such a cool name, it's very ordinary but you can call me Orlando Doom.

I like to write about things that interest me because why else create a blog? I cover things from well I don't know. This may not even make it anywhere meaningful or popular.

So fuck it, right? Let's just starting writing.
